The merits of self-cleaning

Entries in the Buildings Product Innovation Awards were judged by Buildings and Interiors+Sources editors, who selected a total of 33 Product Innovation winners.

“We were truly impressed by the Product Innovations submissions this year,” says Janelle Penny, Buildings Editor-in-Chief. “This year’s finalists wowed us with their thoughtful attention to detail and their inventive use of materials.”

Emerald Rain Refresh was one of three winners in the materials/technology category. The others in that category were the Equinox Railing System and a customizable collection of aluminum surfaces called Atmos.

“Emerald Rain Refresh Exterior Acrylic Latex with Self-Cleaning Technology is an innovative coating designed to be self- cleaning by shedding dirt upon contact with rain or water,” the judges said.

“The new coating features self-priming application properties that help save time during the painting process and its UV and weather-resistant qualities are designed to reduce common exterior coating issues, such as blistering and peeling.”
