The YDM Painting Construction LLC story is a business success story based on faith, family, hard work – and a little luck and help from their friends.

“Our business started with four family members,” says Yesenia Aviles, co-owner of the painting and remodeling company based in the small city of Daleville in southeast Alabama. “We just wanted to do something we enjoy.”

The company has quickly made its mark in its local residential and commercial painting market with its can-do attitude.

“We’re a customer-first company that will do whatever it takes to make sure the job is well done,” is how they put it on their company website.

A strong partner

Since the start, the team at their local Sherwin-Williams store in Enterprise, Alabama has been instrumental to the growth and success of the YDM business, providing everything from opening a line of credit to contractor discounts on quality products and supplies.

“We really appreciate them for their help,” Aviles says.

More recently, the company has benefited from its association with Sherwin-Williams in another big way. Aviles was named the grand prize winner of a new RAM Rebel truck equipped with a work rack in the ScotchBlue™ Painters Tape Sweepstakes, sponsored by 3M and Sherwin-Williams.

“When they called to tell me that I won, I thought it was a scam, but it turned out to be true,” she says. They put the new truck (shown in the photo above with Yesenia at the wheel, surrounded by family members) to work immediately in their family business.

“It was a blessing since we needed a truck for the company to be able to get materials for our jobs,” she says.

When asked about the most important reasons behind her family’s success in the painting business, she says it comes down to one word: faith.

“Trust God because without him none of this would be possible,” she says. “It’s a blessing to be able to have our own company.”

As far as advice for other young people interested in a career in painting, she says to remember that anything is possible.

“Don’t give up,” she says. “You can do anything that you want. You just have to put the work in and believe in yourself.”
